My 10 year old granddaughter is staying with us for a few days and really enjoys being in my shop with me. Yesterday she wanted to make something besides just a cut out of something so I scanned this shelf pattern for her and she cut most of it out. She really likes working on my scrollsaw and is starting to bug me about doing something on my lathe too!! With this kind of interest the art of scrollsawing will never die!!

What a great way to spend with your granddaughter.  The shelf cutting looks great.  I hope to pass on some scrolling interest on to my 10 year old grandson.  We have talked about doing something, but he is so busy with school, sports and scouting, we haven't been able to find quality time. 

Enjoy these times Al.  They grow up so quickly.

Al, your granddaughter did a great job on the shelf!  I hope you get a lot of shop time with her.  They do grow up fast.  My granddaughter graduates high school in a couple of weeks and will be 18 soon.  It just doesn't seem possible...the time has gone way too fast!

Wow Al.........your granddaughter did a wonderful job on the shelf.  What a great way to spend time with her too!  I wish my grandsons were interested.  Thanks so much for sharing her work with us.  Tell her to keep up the great work!

That is a great piece, one that truly can be treaured forever.  I love it when my grandkids want to work in the shop with me.  They are actually declaring weekends that is theirs for shop time.  Such a great feeling

 that is a great job for a young'n.  I know my niece love to piddle with mine but get distracted by the computer when they visit. maybe someday I can post some pics of there work too.

WAY COOL AL! Your granddaughter did a really great job on her shelf.  I love spending time with my grandson but he has absolutely no interest in anything I do lol.  Congrats.  I think that's a great way to spend time with your granddaughter.  It's nice to know there are some kids interested and that scrolling will still be around for a long time.
I hope you get lots of time to scroll with her and have loads of fun.  Thanks for sharing this with us.
