Well folks, how many of you are up to a Scroll Saw Safety Test????
You can find the test at:

http://cte.dpsk12.org/pdfs/scrollsawtest.pdf

Write your answers down and I will post the "school" answers in a few days.

Guess I should have added:

Let me know when you have completed the test.

So, if you would, just post a "I'm ready" or "Done" when you are through.

Sue,

I will go ahead and give the "school" answers for the test.  Maybe seeing how short the test is will encourage others to join in.

1.  B. pressure foot

2.  C.  blade tension

3.  C.  your hands

4.  B.  hand turn    [this procedure is only for the early model scroll saws]

5.  B. moving blade

6.  A. in the throat

7.  A.  the slowest   [speed should be adjusted back to the slowest setting before
                                    turning off the
power]

8.  A. down

Items in [   ] are additional info given in the solution statement.

So, how did you do on this one??

Larry

I missed one!  Number 7.....when you lift your foot off the foot pedal the saw just stops so I have never given a thought to turning down my speed and then turning it up again....my answer was C.  Any

#7 gave me problems also.  I have a delayed start saw and that with the foot switch.  Have not given any thought to slow speed until now.

Well, I missed # 7 also. I usually stop at the speed I was cutting & start it at that speed again. Haven't had any problems.
I don't want to take my hand away to turn the speed down or change it at the end of a cut.  DUH ?

These tests come from a High School course.  With that in mind, and not knowing "who will use the saw next" doing the speed change to slowest at stop makes some sense.   Using my own saw, speed stays same unless I need it faster/slower when cutting.
